Appa

Appa showed up in neighborhood a couple months ago and started making himself at home on my porch. My own cats would go nuts when he would bed down on my porch furniture. I had a feeling he was friendly and tried to trap him for over a month with no luck, but finally succeeded during one of the cold weeks!

This poor boy has clearly struggled on the streets. He had such a bad flea infestation that large patches of his skin were nearly bald due to irritation. Most of the remaining patches were covered in mats and ticks. It took 3 episodes of grooming to get most of the mats off (check out @drdahlintalksanimals for videos!) It finally took sedation to get the last mats off.

My intuition on him paid off though; this boy is a a sweetheart! He meows mournfully for attention when left alone, and thrills for head rubs and treats. He is SOOO grateful to be given a new chance for the good life. He is ready to be spoiled. He will also be a beautiful boy once his fur and skin recovers from everything!

He can exhibit some anxiety that I believe will ease with time. He shows it by getting easily overstimulated with touch and needs it on his terms. He clearly tells you when he's ready to be done with pets. He also tested FIV positive so will need regular health checks.

He needs a home that will accept his love, but be able to give him his space when he needs it so he can get comfortable with life indoors. He spent a looong time having to take care of his own needs! He's not used to trusting anyone but himself, but he's learning.

Fiv cats can live with other vaccinated cats if they do not fight. He could also potentially live with dogs.

Is neutered and vaccinated. FeLV free but FIV positive.
